The Direct Folder 4.1.2 is stopped working in Windows 11 22H2.

The Direct Folder 4.1.2 is stopped working in Windows 11 22H2.

I tried to uninstall and install it again. Unfortunately, it has not worked. When I click in Windows Explorer to visit my pre-defined path through the Direct Folder menu, it just takes me to my 'user' folder.


Have anyone tried it in Latest windows 11 (Windows 11 22H2)?

Same here. Uninstalling the updates to windows "fixes" it. You can still use it on the desktop to open a new window to the desired destination however.

Any idea which update exactly you'd need to uninstall? I uninstalled KB5029921 and it's still broken.

I hope a fix is pushed out soon, I can barely use a PC without direct folders :/

I believe that catching the correct folder path was the minor issue that led to the appearance of this bug. If the developer could resolve this minor problem rather than forcing all users to downgrade their operating systems, that would be fantastic.

I installed 4.1.4 on my Windows 11 22H2 laptop and it doesn't work properly for me.


  1. Double-click doesn't do anything, even though that checkbox is checked.
  2. If I press Ctrl+Alt+Q to open Favorites and click Add here, the path that shows here is not the current folder, but is my user folder, c:\Users\dwatts\.

    Didn't work.

    There is a small bug in the code that is picking the correct folder path. Currently, it is always picking the home directory path.
    If you just sort out the correct folder path, everything will be fine.

     Double-click should work as well, with the exception of the Home page in Explorer.

    Hi, thanks for the update. Yes with 4.1.4.2, double-click now works, and the "Add here" function now correctly picks up the current folder. Thanks!

    One extra item: after a reboot, the configuration panel always appears and I have to click OK to close it. Can you load Direct Folder silently at boot please?
